Colony Farms
Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada, June 2006
Located besides the Lougheed Hwy there is this large plot of land that separates the highway from the residential area. This is Colony Farms which contains interpretive walks/hike which is ideal for children and elderly individuals. There are also biking trails, wildlife viewing, community gardens, and is considered a Wildlife Reserve.
With even more research, Colony Farms was established in 1910. It provide residents of Riverview Hospital with diary and fresh vegetable, as well it was a source of recreational therapy through the maintenance of the gardens. Reminisce of the old farm are present such as the water tower, bunkhouse, and old log fence. |
