Fraser Cemetery
New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, January 22, 2006
Located in New Westminster and opened and used since 1869, Fraser Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in British Columbia.
While visiting the cemetery, we were able to view all the weather-worn tombstones which dates back to the early 1900s. Most of the older markers are worn down to the point that the carvings are impossible to read. Whole generations of families have been buried at Fraser and even plots have been reserved for later use.
The cemetery is divided in to different sections. The more elaborate tombstones seem to be in the "Old Church of England" section. Most of the deceased are people who had dedicated their lives to religion and are clearly labeled on their tombstone. |
